Hayden’s grandparents

Hayden’s grandfather.

Hayden’s granny, also his babysitter.

This conversation took place at 3:45am this morning, between Hayden and me:-
Hayden : “NGARRHHH… NGGAARRRHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Sam : “Oh come on baby Hayden. Daddy knows you are not feeling well. But all you need to do is to tell daddy or mummy about it, you do not need to tell the neighbors, okay?”
Hayden’s identity card is ready for collection, but I have yet to collect for him because I have a sprained ankle on the right foot. You know, it is quite a distance away from the open air carpark to the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara collection counter. Therefore, no rush.
It had been so many years since the last injury caused by sport, until the last Tuesday. I was joining the colleagues for badminton. I had a pair of new shoe pads, they are thicker than the orginal pads and they consist of multiple holes for ventilation. The nightmare came when I first tried the pads on the court. My movement had been heavily affected by the thickness, and the stability wasn’t good due to the ventilation holes. In the last jump for a powerful smash, the body slid to a side slightly. When I landed, the right foot was not in the proper landing position. Plus the 87.5 kg of weight, the inappropriate landing caused a disaster to me. Then I heard something like breaking a branch and immediately I was seen on the floor yelling of pain.
The first thing came to my mind was,”Shit, how can I play in the basketball match next week?”. The Carlsberg Cup tournament is starting next week, as usual, I will be playing for the home team.
Right after the sprain, I went home and stuffed the injured foot into a pail with full of ice cubes. After half an hour in the cold, I went for a bathe, and applied the Chinese orthopedic medicine on it. In the last two days, I rested at home, I tried not to walk much as pressure on the sprained ankle will not help for recovery.
As expected, now, the pain has gone so much and the ankle has little swollen only. When you sprain your ankle or any part of your body, if you are sure of no fracture or no misalignment of joints, you do not need to look for a “tit dar” sinseh because most of them will become a “sin kah” to you instead. All you need is to apply the medicine on your own for two days, try not to use or move the injured part too much before the pains gone, and you will be recovering very soon. You do not need to be on diet. If the folks ask you not to eat this and that, basically you can ignore them.
“What the fuck do you want?”
That is what I threw to Hayden this morning. Hayden has been driving me mad in this couple of days, he keeps screaming in the middle of the night like a wolf-dog. I was awakened by his screaming every night recently. Abbie nurses him, I change diaper for him, we do everything we can for him, but that does not help to stop him at all. I am getting impatient with him.
After I threw the above question to him, immediately he stopped screaming. I am guessing Hayden probably understands the word “fuck”. He knows his daddy is no easy dude, he knows he has everything to lose for driving his daddy mad. He is smart enough to read his daddy’s gesture, and he knows it is not going to help if he continues to annoy his daddy.
Finally, I got to calm him down on my shoulder. My shoulder is still the best for him.
From our observation, his size has grown a bit and it is visibly seen that his petite clothes appeared as some tight clothes now, kinda good looking anyway. I may take a photograph of him in tights one of these days.
He is always in dilemma. When he is hungry, he has faeces to pass at the same time. He seems to have problem to do these things simultenously. Consequently, he shouts out loud no matter what we do to him. In this case, usually we do not give him a damn. We are okay with it, we will patiently wait for him to stop shouting. But the neighbours will have to suffer a bit with the high pitch screaming, especially when Hayden starts his engine in the middle of the night.
I noticed Hayden loves to lie on our shoulders. When he screams at the top of his lung, one of the most efficient remedy is to lie him on our shoulder, usually he will stop screaming in a little while or immediately. He doesn’t cry much, he screams most of the time. When he is hungry, he screams. When he has problem to pass motion, he screams. When he feels lonely, he screams… He screams for anything and everything.
We have bought Hayden a baby stroller by Combi. His first shopping with the stroller is at Jusco Equine Park. Previously, we had to carry him with the massive car-seat around the mall, we are reluctant to do it again because it is not something we would enjoy going out with him. With a baby stroller, shopping is not a problem to us anymore.
Hayden received his first ever Christmas present not from his own parents, but from the hot Chui Hoon auntie (hahaaa…), thanks Chui Hoon.
Because of Hayden, I just missed to attend a good friend’s wedding on January 2, I have totally forgotten about the wedding. Kelvin, I am so sorry about it, I missed your wedding and an opportunity to meet up the old friends, it is a shame.
Again, because of Hayden, I stopped going to gym and doing any sport. My weight is gaining rapidly, probably you will see a fatty Sam in one or two months time. My routine has been messed up a lot, I am still looking into recovering it. Life has changed so much because of him.
Hayden visited Dr. Koe last week, and 2 vaccine injections had been given to him. One is for rotavirus, and Hepatitis B is the other one. Dr. Kow was very happy with Hayden’s development, especially on the weight gain. But she is not happy with the feeding part. She is not encouraging bottle feeding because it could lead to Hayden’s nipple confusion, what he is having now.
About the feeding, we can have two ways of looking at it. If Abbie were to be on full breast-feeding, she will get very tired because I could not help her at all. With bottle feeding, I can at least give her a hand on feeding Hayden so that she can have a rest. At the moment, she is seriously lacking of sleep, I worry she will not be able to stand for too long if the situation doesn’t change. Anyway, we are working on getting things back to the right track and hopefully it doesn’t take long for recovery.
